A compact powerhouse - weycor AR 660

March 28, 2024

The weycor AR 660 wheel loader is a king of performance, but slim and compact. "We are pleasantly surprised by its power. At the same time, it is very compact and you have excellent visibility all around," says Paul Schauermann, head of the civil engineering department at Kümper + Schwarze Baubetriebe GmbH from Wolfenbüttel, where it is in use. The AR 660 has an operating weight of 13,995 kg, a 6-cylinder engine with 6,057 cm3 and an output of 160 kW/218 hp. This gives it a tear-out force of 11,900 daN and a thrust of 11,600 daN. Enough power to carry out effective work in Wolfenbüttel during the sewer and civil engineering work for the new retirement home.

Retirement residence with 200 units

131 care places, day care with 20 places and 46 residential units to the most modern standards are planned in Wolfenbüttel. There will also be a public restaurant, fireside lounge with library, doctor's room, laundry, hairdresser, care bath and therapy rooms. Completion of the 7,050 m2 gross floor area in sustainable KfW 40 construction is planned for spring 2026. The flat roofs will be partially greened. Heating will be provided in an ecologically sound manner by a combined heat and power unit (CHP), which will also generate electricity for the senior citizens' residence.

Compact and powerful

The overall height of an AR 660 with standard tires is 3.25 m. The compact design is a continuation of the style of the compact wheel loader series with excellent visibility. "The sloping rear provides excellent visibility to the rear. And all around you have an overview like from an observation tower," describes Schauermann. The turning radius of 5,497 mm is also favorable. This means that things can get tight on the construction site without affecting the working speed. Safe movement is ensured by 100% engageable differential locks for the front and rear axles. This enables high traction and minimizes wear on the wheels. The weycor controller is also clever. It automatically adjusts the tractive force to the respective surface.

Power that grips

The weycor AR 660 has the most powerful engine and the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. The balance created by the weycor hydraulic and engine management for travel drive, pushing and lifting work enables fast, powerful work and minimized consumption at the same time. "For us, the power of the AR 660 is very welcome. Also to be able to operate attachments," says Schauermann.
